Hi there, I’m Kelly. I'm an entertainment journalist specializing in movies, TV, fan culture and everything you could ever want to know about Game of Thrones.
I'm currently stationed at USA TODAY as an Entertainment Writer and Acting TV Critic. In my three years here I've covered the Oscars from backstage, Snapchatted with Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman, and staunchly defended the Star Wars prequels (at my own peril). These days I regularly review new and returning TV shows, write a daily column on what's worth watching, and write essays and features on other TV topics. You can see me every Monday at 2 p.m. ET on USA TODAY's Facebook Live show, Critic's Corner.
I have experience covering entertainment topics across multiple different platforms. In addition to writing a variety of story types (everything from news to features to listicles to obituaries to recaps to reviews to personal essays) I also work to tell stories via audio, video and social. I co-created and co-host USA TODAY's Mothership podcast, a weekly roundtable on nerdy entertainment and culture. I've developed a social video series to accompany my Game of Thrones recaps and have appeared in numerous videos on-camera. As a member of our digital team, I edit news, features and more as required. I was a part of the launch team for USA TODAY's mobile-first entertainment vertical, Entertain This. Over its four-year history I have contributed daily, participated in long-term editorial planning and accepted and edited pitches from freelancers.
From 2014-2016 I also held the role of Social Media Editor for USA TODAY's Life section. I directed and planned social strategy for USA TODAY's entertainment content, from Facebook to Twitter to Instagram to Snapchat to Tumblr and more.
Before coming to USA TODAY I worked and wrote for a number of diverse news organizations including, NPR, WHYY (Philadelphia’s NPR affiliate), Philadelphia CityPaper, Philadelphia Style Magazine, Cinedelphia, West Philly Local and 34th Street Magazine.
In May 2013 I graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in English and a minor in journalism.
